TRADES AND FIELD SERVICE

Crayon vs Simpro

Simpro is a serious platform for commercial and project work. It is also the only product in this comparison set that will not tell you what it costs.

Last checked 17 September 2026

Simpro

Simpro is trade software for businesses from five to 200 staff, covering quoting and estimating, scheduling, real-time inventory and purchasing, invoicing, accounting and business intelligence, with add-ons bought separately. It publishes no prices. Its pricing page offers Request Pricing and Get Demo, and its own pricing FAQ answers the cost question by inviting you to contact them for a personalised quote.

Crayon

Crayon publishes its price on its pricing page. That is not a small difference when you are trying to compare options without booking four sales calls.

THE DIFFERENCE

The difference is what happens when it does not fit.

Every product on this page is a fixed shape. Where it matches how you work, it works well. Where it does not, you change how you work, pay a developer, or bolt on another tool. Crayon is the proven core for bookings, customers and payments, and the AI changes it when you ask. Rename what things are called. Add the field every job has to carry. Change what a button says.

OUTGROWING IT

Signs Simpro is more platform than you need

The depth is real. So is the weight that comes with it.

If you need commercial project management, Simpro is a real answer. If you need cleaning operations that fit how you run, the answer should not start with a scoping call. Crayon publishes a price, and the fitting happens by asking.

Crayon is not taking general signups. We are picking a small first group of service businesses, setting their platform up with them, and opening properly after that. Founding customers hold the founding price.
